About Tickerscape

Tickerscape is a geographic stock screener — an interactive map of where the public-equity market is based. Each marker is the headquarters of a U.S.-listed company, placed from that company's own filings and then reviewed by hand. Draw a box around a region and you get the companies that are actually run from there.

Who it's for

The product is built for retail traders, prosumers, and financial analysts in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Germany. If you already track the tape on a tool like Finviz or sketch out geographic ideas on geojson.io, Tickerscape combines the two: a hand-curated map of where public companies are headquartered, built to be worked spatially.

Why headquarters geography

Headquarters location is a stable, public attribute, and it carries useful signal. Regional clustering — the Bay Area, Houston energy, Midwest industrials, NYC financials — is a structure the ticker tape alone flattens. A geographic view also helps connect market events to physical places: storms, elections, regulatory shifts, and supply-chain disruptions all happen somewhere.

What's here today

Today Tickerscape plots the headquarters of 4,000+ stocks listed on U.S. exchanges (NYSE & Nasdaq). Every location begins with the address the company itself files with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and a large and growing share have since been checked, one at a time, by a person against satellite imagery and the source filing. Company names, listing venues, share counts, industry codes and state of incorporation come from the SEC's EDGAR system. That curated location dataset is the product.

You can screen that universe spatially — draw a box, lasso, or circle around a region to pull those companies into the panel — or work the same data as a sortable, filterable table. Every company has its own page, and every state has a page listing the companies headquartered in it. The Methodology page documents where each field comes from, how the locations are reviewed, and what the map does and does not currently carry.

The map does not currently show share prices, quotes, or percent change. Adding market data is on the roadmap below; until it lands, Tickerscape is a location atlas and nothing on the site should be read as carrying a price.

What's coming

Future updates bring market data to the map, expand the asset-location dataset (offices, factories), introduce optional accounts for real-time quotes and cross-device sync, add annotated equity charts and saved map workspaces, and surface aggregate views over political and economic boundaries. The Feedback page is the best way to suggest features or report a problem.
